What should I consider when purchasing a Kids Backpack?
There are numerous factors to consider when choosing a backpack for your child
- Purpose of the bag – will the bag be used for short outings to the park or visiting, or is the bag for daycare, school or packing clothes for sleepovers.
- Size of the bag – consider how much ‘stuff’ your child needs to have in tow for their day.
- Functionality – Does the bag have enough compartments to ensure items ae easily and quickly accessible.
- Quality – make sure your child's backpack of choice has quality zips that they are able to open easily, comfortable shoulder straps, and constructed from easy to clean fabric – either wipe clean or washable.
What should I pack in a daycare or kindergarten backpack?
It can be very tempting to pack large quantities into your child's backpack but its important to pack the essentials and not weigh them down or make it difficult for your child to find the things.
Your daycare centre will provide you a list of essentials, but generally you will need to pack enough nappies for the day, a complete change of clothing in your child's current size, a jacket, a sunhat or beanie depending on the season. Your may also be required to pack a lunch for daycare – don’t forget a special comfort toy from home (don’t send their favourite toy if you are worried about this becoming lost or left behind)
A Kindergarten backpack will generally require a a healthy morning tea and lunch, a non-spill drink bottle, a hat, art smock and rain jacket.
